As the front-line risk management organization for Wealth & Investment Management, WIM Control is accountable for the strategic development, management and oversight of the control environment across WIM's business lines, implemented through partnership with business and corporate function leaders. As part of WIM Control, WIM Financial Crimes Risk & Control (WIM FCRC) is responsible for ensuring WIM businesses are in compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and corporate policies related to Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, International Economic Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption. WIM FCRC ensures Financial Crimes controls are effectively designed and executed in line with WIM's risk tolerance. WIM FCRC has an exciting opportunity to join the WIM High Risk Customer Due Diligence (WIM CDD) team. The WIM CDD High Risk Monitoring Associate will be responsible for performing key aspects of the WIM CDD team's High Risk Monitoring processes, while delivering sustainable and exceptional service to our internal clients. The High Risk Monitoring Associate will be a subject matter expert on specific and unique high risk client typologies, including industry, geographic, and transactional risk with a focus on Wells Fargo Advisors. Ensuring that all internal Service Level Agreements, standards/policy, regulatory requirements, and expectations associated with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, and Economic Sanctions laws and regulations are met will be critical to the candidate success. Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Assisting with the exiting of customers due to AML/BSA concerns;
Researching and responding to referrals related to client and activity concerns;
Reviewing monthly ad hoc client activity reports to identify high risk clients and transactional activity;
Providing guidance, advice, support and expertise to WIM's financial crimes program teams and WIM business units on various BSA/AML/OFAC risks and/or trends identified during the execution of day-to-day duties
Leading and/or assisting with the execution of ad-hoc projects
Maintaining current knowledge of the external regulatory environment and continuously assessing and reporting real and potential impacts and emerging risks to WIM's businesses
The Associate will work with the WIM CDD staff, other WIM financial crimes functions, lines of business, and other internal groups to proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous process improvement. The person in this role must be adept at working in a fast-paced, regularly changing environment where competing priorities are the norm.
2+ years of experience in risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 1+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field
Other Desired Qualifications
2+ years of experience in Banking / Securities Industries, Law Enforcement, and/or Federal Regulation in a combination of one or more of the following areas:
BSA/AML/OFAC Regulatory Compliance in large, diverse financial institutions;
Federal or State Law Enforcement pertaining to White-Collar Crime; or
Federal or State Financial Institution Regulatory Oversight pertaining to BSA/AML Compliance
Experience/familiarity with common financial crimes applications and WIM systems of record: Actimize, Lexis Nexis, CR2, Dow Jones Risk and Compliance, World Check, CLEAR, CPACS, BETA, ClientLink, Smartstation, Newton, SVP, etc
Internal Auditing of BSA/AML/OFAC Programs for large, diverse financial institutions
Experience assisting with programs designed to adhere to BSA/AML/OFAC laws and regulations in either a retail / commercial bank or retail brokerage environment
Experience in performing financial investigations, activity analysis, and risk analysis
Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Arabic speaking skills a plus
Experience in conducting due diligence and investigative related duties at a large global financial institution.
Experience working within a financial crimes / AML role covering brokerage, private banking and wealth management
Law enforcement experience focused on money laundering and other financial crimes related investigations
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) experience
Salary Information The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
