We are seeking a high-energy individual with very strong communication skills, strong analytic abilities, substantial experience partnering and problem-solving with senior managers in a matrix (shared accountability) organization, understanding of and ability to write database queries on diverse and growing sources of customer data across channels into analyses that guide business leaders. The Analytics Consultant 4 will be joining the Wells Fargo Auto Analytics (WFAA) center of excellence, which specializes in using analytics tools, capabilities, data, and statistical techniques to uncover insights that enable business leaders to make data-driven strategic decisions. The primary role for this position is to provide deep-dive analysis and insights into trends, changes, significant outliers and opportunities to improve oversight of dealers' interactions with the consumers who purchase their vehicles and arrange for financing through Wells Fargo Auto, increase our effectiveness in monitoring the financial health and operational risk of dealers, while growing and deepening our financial relationships with dealers and dealership groups. The role will also support analysis of Wells Fargo Auto's relationships with third party vendors that support the business. The position will work closely with a senior analytic consultant on the WFAA team to translate business needs and analytic questions into specific data/technical requirements and display/summary of analytical results that strike the necessary balance between response time and complexity/precision, as well as answering ad-hoc questions about the analyses and data from business partners who support the various dealer relationship functions. In order to effectively conduct analysis and synthesize all aspects of Wells Fargo Auto's relationships with individual dealers and dealership groups across multiple, separate complex data sources in new ways that haven't been done before, the role will require a hands-on and creative approach to learning the details of different data sources, mining and manipulating these data sources, and applying a variety of analytical techniques, such as detecting outliers, seasonal adjustment, text mining, and data visualization, while rigorously adhering to data management/data governance policies and developing effective processes and controls to ensure data accuracy and integrity at every step of the analytical life cycle. The analytics consultant will partner with other specialty analytics teams, particularly Finance, Credit Risk, Customer Excellence, Data Services, and other analytic consultants in WFAA, to gain additional context and insight. Responsibilities also include developing detailed requirements for ongoing reports that support management of dealer relationships, and providing guidance to the reporting COE and data management groups as needed to develop and enhance automated reporting.
6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling
Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
4+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills
Experience in gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
Knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, data warehousing, ETL process, requirements gathering and/or decision support tools
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Knowledge and understanding of financial industry collections, operations, sales, and credit; in an auto finance environment
Strong root cause analysis skills
