Vighter LLC is in need of healthcare providers for Public Health Emergency Support in response to 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

START DATE : < 2 weeks anticipated start date

WORK DURATION: Anywhere from 2-8 weeks, potential to extend based on the requests of the client .

Title: Bio-Safety Officer / Industrial Hygienist (COVID-19)


  • Provides services at the scope and level of a Industrial Hygienist to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.
  • Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
  • Conduct occupational health surveys and inspections to ensure work processes and operations conform with applicable standards and regulations
  • Independently plan, conduct, and administer inspections, surveys, and evaluations as part of a comprehensive industrial hygiene program for a medical installation supporting the COVID-19 response.
  • Conduct periodic surveys of working conditions to determine the nature and magnitude of hazardous exposure and the effectiveness of existing control measures.
  • Provide consultation and advice to various activities on occupational health problems.
  • Determine through the conduct of surveys and studies the need for medical surveillance for employees who are routinely exposed to toxic materials, noise, or other physical hazards.
  • In consultation with the PMO, determines the type of medical surveillance needed for personnel based on exposure assessments, quantitative data, toxicological information, statistical analysis, and professional judgment.
  • Prepare reports, analysis, evaluation and interpretation of results.
  • Coordinates laboratory bio-safety inspections and assists in the response and investigation of laboratory-related accidents and exposures.
  • Ensures accuracy of Chemical Inventory and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database, labeling is current and all MSDS are up to date.
  • Serve as the Alternate Responsible Official (ARO) for supervising the possession, use and transfer of Select Agents and Toxins and address compliance issues associated with the Select Agent Rule.
  • Responsible for assisting with implementing and maintaining the Select Agent Bio-security and Emergency Response and Incident plan.
  • Oversees all Select Agent training activities and maintenance of training records.
  • Maintains current knowledge to plan and direct the Bio-safety and Training Program to ensure compliance with the standards of OSHA, CDC, FDA, USDA, DHS, NIH, WHO, and other applicable federal and state entities.
  • Participates actively in all assessments and inspections by outside agencies.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Bachelors degree in occupational health, environmental health, or related sciences.
  • 2 years of relevant experience work history experience.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety principals; biological safety, principles of containment, decontamination, disinfection, and personnel protection.
  • Knowledge with federal and state regulations and NIH ans CDC guidelines related to biological safety.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Location of services may at times be in remote, austere or challenging environments.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

  • Master's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental heath, toxicology, safety sciences, or related sciences.
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certification.
  • 3 years' experience as a Industrial Hygiene or 3 year's experience as a Bio Safety Officer.

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting as required for patient care and transport
