Job Summary:

Responsible for participating in projects related to deployments, decommission, and migrations of data center network, server, storage, backup, and security devices. Support of company data center operations, new product implementations, assisting with existing products and services, and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of data center engineering. Performs Tier 1 event correlation and identifies probable root cause; provides trouble isolation, advanced troubleshooting, and break/fix activities. Provides solutions architecture review of projects and works directly with vendors, suppliers, project managers, critical facilities, and multi-functional team leaders. Candidate will also assist in critical facilities operations day to day activities including but not limited to startup and commissioning of facilities equipment, maintenance of HVAC and electrical systems distributions, metric reporting, working with service vendors, review of written plans, blueprints, and single-line diagrams.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Drive or assists in the coordination and technical project management of team workload, including change control, resolution of partner issues, resources, schedules and timelines to ensure that implementation is on track for overall project success and reporting.
  • Develops, Maintains, and coordinates MOPS for installations and maintenance of critical facilities and structured cable plant.
  • Coordinates and assigns resources to support BAU, POR, Network Builds, Migrations, Hardware maintenance, and hands-on / break fix in accordance with SLA's
  • Knowledge of devices placement using on KW availability, physical space, cooling, port availability, structured cable plant and application device requirements.
  • SME of how equipment shall be placed within the cabinet initiated with hot-cold orientation to efficiently handle the thermal environment and improve device specifications and capabilities.
  • SME on full life cycle of install & decom processes of rack mountable equipment (severs, switches, storage, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices) in a NDC and RDC environment.
  • Co-ordinate with network engineering and data center teams for hardware break-fix
  • Participates in the preparation of analyses and reports on the data center infrastructure, develops project plans and conducts briefings and presentations.
  • Interacts with Critical Facilities lead when performing both routine and emergency service on a variety of critical systems, including but not limited to; medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, paralleling switchboards, UPS, PDU, and building monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of risk mitigation practices and their application in critical sites
  • Critical facilities Daily/weekly/monthly walk-throughs
  • Review cabinet cooling prior and after decoms/Installs- work with Landlord on floor tile reconfiguration if required based on Cooling needs.
  • Review Power IQ for Critical Alert Events and resolve
  • Review rack KW/temps - Engineer training by region - process document becomes part of install/decom process and ops review of managed services.
  • Review WebCntrl/Foreseer for Critical Alert Events and resolve
  • The overall rack, stack, power & cabling of equipment within the Data Center.
  • Working with vendors to install, maintain, fix and decom related equipment.
  • Maintain and fix Data Center cabling infrastructure and day to day capacity requirements.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Two to Five years' experience working with Critical Facilities infrastructure with solid understanding of Electrical and Cooling plant.
  • Experience in deployment and installation of switches, routers and servers
  • Experience in High Speed Data, Voice, IP and Data Networking.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of power generation and power distribution including facility and cabinet based PDU's, ATS's, and UPS's. Diverse knowledge of Power & HVAC data center dynamics.
  • Shown experience to efficiently plan project installations and forecast infrastructure growth - including deployment accuracy, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory control, and documenting processes.
  • Basic knowledge of current types of networking and server hardware.
  • Validated experience of detailing & developing policies and procedures.
  • Shown project management, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work with vendors, employees and management.
  • Effective leadership skills to resolve conflicts and retain high morale.
  • Good personal computer skills.
  • Some travel required
