What is the position where you can add value?

We are hiring for a Manager, Technical Accounting within Tekni-Plex. 

The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards, and ensuring the application of GAAP to complex transactions. This position will be also responsible for performing technical accounting research, writing accounting position memoranda, creating accounting models and interacting with external auditors, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. This position will also work with the Company’s subsidiaries to ensure consistent application of Company accounting policies.

 

This person will work closely with the M&A team to review purchase agreements, assist with due diligence efforts and support the integration of newly acquired entities. This person will also work closely with the Legal, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) departments to coordinate information and fulfill certain external reporting and compliance responsibilities. Will assist with the organization and collection of documentation for audits, work alongside external auditors to ensure completion of the consolidated and standalone financial statement audits, and ensure disclosure controls, procedures, and related documentation are maintained.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily responsible for performing all technical accounting research related to complex accounting matters and documenting the Company’s positions and comprehensive accounting treatment in memoranda.
  • Participates in the evaluation and determination of the proper accounting treatment and disclosure related to complex or unusual transactions.
  • Assisting in mergers, acquisitions, due diligence or dispositions of companies including valuation of the opening balance sheet accounts.
  • Review financial statements for completeness and accuracy for financial reporting/US GAAP compliance prior to publication.
  • Responsible for all public governmental census filings.
  • Interact with external auditors to support the Company’s accounting positions and facilitate an efficient audit and review process. Manage day-to-day coordination with external auditors, including quarterly reviews, annual financial statements, statutory audits, bank reporting, employee benefit plan audits, etc.
  • Serve as liaison on accounting and reporting matters to functions and divisions outside the corporate finance organization, including international subsidiaries.
  • Clearly articulate and educate team members in finance and Business Units with respect to the impact of adopted accounting policies, new standards and other technical matters.
  • Update and contribute to the development of existing accounting policies, procedures and methodologies, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Manage special projects and unique analyses related to acquisitions, business development, financing transactions and other corporate-level initiatives
  • Proactively and frequently interact with corporate Accounting team members to evaluate accounting issues and information related to periodic financial closings
  • Provides training and accounting guidance to field controllers and other corporate departments relating to accounting matters.
  • Establish the vision for and lead operational / accounting improvement initiatives through collaboration with accounting, operational and IT personnel and leadership.
  • Implement accounting processes and systems for newly acquired companies and work to streamline and improve processes.

 

What skills do you bring to the role?

  • QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 8 - 10 years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility required; Big 4 Public and exposure to / or experience in manufacture industry preferred;
    • Experience performing technical accounting research and applying guidance to transactions and writing technical accounting memoranda/position papers.
    • Must have expertise in commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures related to (GAAP).
    • Must understand the full range of applicable business combination accounting guidance.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and a professional demeanor required.
    • Must have strong project management, organizational, documentation, work ethic, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines, and multi-task in a fast paced and growth oriented environment.
    • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience using all MS Office applications; strong knowledge of Excel required.
    • Proficient in SAGE – FAS, OneStream is a plus.
