Construction Engineer


Parsons services include the design and construction of innovative, safe and sustainable infrastructure around the world. Parsons focuses on self-performing the design-build delivery of large heavy civil infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, tunnels, rail, and water and wastewater treatment plants within the United States and Canada.


Parsons Construction Group, Inc. (PCG), a division of Parsons, is a heavy civil contractor that focuses on design-build and design bid-build infrastructure projects in the US and Canada. PCG has world class construction expertise and a proven track record in self-performing complex infrastructure projects. PCG is seeking construction engineers for its I-64 Southside Widening and High-Rise Bridge project in Chesapeake VA. A Construction Engineer for the Parsons Construction Group is responsible for planning and executing construction engineering activities to safely deliver a quality product in a cost-effective manner. This position will report to the Project Engineer while working in a collaborative support role with project superintendents.

Essential Duties Responsibilities

  • Work closely with superintendents and other construction engineers
  • Promote and champion adherence to Parsons Safety policies.
  • Develop work plans including hoisting plans, formwork, and SOE.
  • Track production of self-performed work.
  • Ensure adherence to Project Quality Control Management Plan
  • Ensure adherence to Project Environmental Management Plan.
  • Plan and coordinate subcontractor work.
  • Review supplier shop drawings for contract compliance, order permanent materials, and facilitate proper installation.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or construction related field is preferred
  • 3-5 years of construction experience
  • Qualification as an EIT

Special Skills

  • Knowledge of Windows Office Systems; particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity with construction software like AutoCAD and Primavera is a plus
  • Capable of reading plans and interpreting specifications
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
