Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is located at our facility in Fairfax, Virginia. Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:
The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll using Deltek Costpoint and the corporate payroll system. Responsibilities include managing and performing all phases of the payroll process from timesheet collection, review, and edits prior to transmitting payroll; providing timesheet training and guidance to new and existing employees; monitoring electronic timesheets, contacting department supervisors for missing timesheets and/or corrections; processing PTO payout requests; processing HSA and 401K contribution payments; obtaining overtime approvals; coordinating with HR to ensure employee data is entered accurately; assisting with AAP compliance and reporting; reviewing downloaded information for completeness and accuracy; resolving payroll discrepancies by proactively collecting and analyzing information; compiling payroll data (wages, garnishments, PTO, insurance, 401(k) deductions, and SCA compliance); maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Federal, State, and Local payroll regulations and taxation, including those related to employee benefits; ensure monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting (W2, 941) for federal and multiple state agencies are filed accurately and on time; ensure tax entities are filed appropriately; preparing K1 forms and associated filings; compiling various internal management reports; assisting with and supporting various audits; and generating payroll reports to include monthly, quarterly, year-end, and ad-hoc reporting. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall success of the accounting department by performing all duties and responsibilities as assigned, acting as a back-up for other positions as needed, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times, and providing excellent, proactive customer service.
Requires Security Clearance
- US citizenship, due to nature of the work and contract requirement
- Ability to obtain SECRET clearance, due to contract requirement
- HS diploma
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a payroll administrator for a defense contractor
- Minimum 5 years’ experience using Deltek-Costpoint
- Minimum 5 years’ experience using payroll system such as ADP or Bank of America
- Minimum 3 years’ experience processing payroll for a company with more than 50 employees
-Solid understanding of payroll best practices
-Experience with accounts payable and journal entries
-Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
-Proficient in MS Office
-Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
-Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
