WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Engineer for our Buffalo office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The job will entail working with mid-level and senior engineers to prepare design studies and contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various types of facilities, including highways, light rail systems, buildings, parks, airports, power distribution, passenger rail stations, waterfronts, railroads, border crossings, tolling facilities, and telecommunications.
The work could involve, but not be limited to, any of the following duties:
Highway alignments - plan and profile
Cut and fill calculations
Cost estimating, including quantity takeoffs
Review of construction submittals
Site visits during design and construction
Attend and participate in meetings and prepare minutes

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with preferred coursework in highway and drainage
Strong interest in transportation engineering, particularly civil/highway design
Eagerness and ability to comprehend and efficiently apply new knowledge, striving for continuous growth
Ability to efficiently understand and complete work tasks
Solid verbal and written communication skills, including confidence in speaking among peers and small groups
Strong interest in gaining an understanding of the business side of consulting engineering
Experience in design or construction preferred
Construction field experience is preferred
Experience with Microstation or Autocad preferred
Experience with Bentley Inroads and/or Autocad 3D Civil preferred.
Experience with stormwater modeling and design preferred.
Ability to take on occasional travel as well as temporary relocation for out-of-town assignments lasting up to 3 months
EIT/FE certification preferred
