Post and review batch tickets from production supervisor
Collect and “stage” raw materials prior to introduction into mixing tanks
Check fellow batch maker’s staged raw materials for accuracy
Weigh raw materials into pails according to the batch ticket
Introduce ingredients (raw materials) into mixing tank
Adjust temperature as needed
Supervise the mixing tank once ingredients are introduced
Gather a sample of the finished product for Quality Control check
Communicate with personnel when batch is complete
Clean up work space
Other duties include verifying inventory (maintaining identity-labels), helping (as needed) packaging and shipping, attending quality meetings, following safety procedures and general workplace shop-keeping. Raw materials are generally stored in 55 gallon drums that weigh between 350-600 pounds. Batch maker must be able to move these drums throughout the factory using dollies and pallet lifts.
Operating temperatures in the factory span 70 degrees F to 105 degrees F. Basic math skills and reading skills are mandatory and a high school diploma or GED equivalent are preferred.
