The Director of Alzheimer's Disease Reimbursement will be responsible for the development and implementation of the overall site of care reimbursement and patient access strategy for the Biogen Alzheimer's business for the assigned region. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Alzheimer's Disease Reimbursement, this individual will lead a layered organization of 6-10 Reimbursement Managers responsible for the Reimbursement Strategy and Execution for Biogen Key Alzheimer's Accounts and Sites of Care. As a member of the Divisional Leadership Team, s/he will lead the team in identifying account needs and market opportunities that are incorporated into the divisional go-to-market strategy, specific to buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy, and infusion reimbursement topics. S/he will work with cross-functional partners (i.e., Marketing, Sales, Advocacy, Account Management, Patient Services, and Medical) to deploy solutions that drive local business opportunities, ensuring team alignment in overall execution of strategy. The incumbent will have direct line responsibilities for building and developing a high caliber, diverse and multi-layered organization of Access & Reimbursement Managers, supporting identified integrated health systems, hospitals, academic center and Alzheimer's Centers of Excellence with all matters pertinent to reimbursement at the site of care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a cross-functional team
  • Attract, hire, and develop a diverse Alzheimer's Disease Reimbursement team geographically dispersed within assigned region.
  • Continuously coach and develop advanced leadership and patient access and reimbursement as well as local advocacy activation capabilities
  • Create high performance culture with emphasis on accountability, drive for results, and collaboration
  • Foster alignment with Divisional Leadership Team/Governance, direct reports and partners
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional partners:
  • Interface and work cross functionally with Commercial Excellence & Operations, Sales, Marketing, Key Accounts, Medical, Market Access, Patient Services and Patient Advocacy.
  • Translate market insights to influence/shape divisional reimbursement strategy for sites of care. Providing insight on trends and business opportunities, influencing strategic choices and investments to execute initiatives.
  • Partners with Biogen/Corporate Advocacy to inform national strategy and align regional advocacy efforts for Alzheimer's Disease
  • Inform integrated brand planning process and advocate on behalf of the Access & Reimbursement organization
  • Oversee creation and execution of strategy and tactics specific to identified Alzheimer's Key Accounts, HCPs, and sites of care.
  • Inform the annual brand strategy and operating plan related to access & reimbursement opportunities and challenges for the assigned division.
  • Provide input on annual forecast assumptions and brand plan, in advance of and post-launch
  • Partner with Market Access Leadership Team to provide input on payer value proposition and development of reimbursement acumen relative to the total account strategy at both a payer and provider level within assigned division
  • Understand cross-functional interdependencies within systems/institutions and sites of care, and their specific impact on divisional strategy and execution
  • Implement a process for best practice sharing across divisional teams to maximize efforts
  • Exemplary Communication: Provide both formal (senior leadership) and informal updates to the broader organization on the progress against Alzheimer's Key Account strategic plans and proposals.


  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA an advantage.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech experience, with a demonstrated breadth of commercial experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience hiring, developing and leading diverse teams strongly preferred, ideally those in the buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy, and infusion/reimbursement areas of expertise.
  • Exemplary presentation skills. Ability to clearly and succinctly convey ideas to key internal organizational stakeholders as well as specific decision makers in selected accounts up to and including executive audiences.
  • Advanced understanding of organizational culture. Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting organization.
  • Ability to lead within the matrix. Knows how to establish and maintain momentum both through formal channels and the informal network.
  • Strategic thinker. Understands the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices, and procedures, as well as how and when to influence for change.
  • Exceptional business and clinical acumen. Knows the competition; is aware of how differentiated strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.
  • Ability to work independently in executing against multiple strategic projects simultaneously under compressed timelines.
  • Advanced understanding of compliance with OIG & regulatory requirements.
  • Experience and deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems, reimbursement, and account management, navigating complex accounts critical for success, (working with integrated delivery networks, health systems preferably in a biopharmaceutical manufacturer capacity).
  • Ability to drive and lead through change and ambiguity.
  • Proven record of leadership and development of people and teams.
  • Passion for addressing patient needs.
