Job Description



Senior Compiler Engineer in Test - HDL Coder is responsible for developing automated testing tools and test suites for verifying MathWorks state-of-the-art solutions in generating bit-accurate and optimal HDL code from MATLAB code or Simulink models. This includes testing compiler optimizations, improving code coverage and validating performance of the generated HDL code. Additionally, you will also be responsible for testing our Deep Learning on FPGA and Hardware-Software codesign workflows.

As a member of the HDL Coder testing team, you will participate in the project from its early design stages and play a critical role in driving it to final product release.The position requires working closely with development and documentation teams and occasionally with customer facing groups.


  • Testing state-of-the-art Mathworks solutions in deep learning deployment and HDL code generation

    • Participating in design reviews and code reviews
    • Creating test plans and test procedures for new product features

  • Designing and Implementing C++ unit testing strategies for HDL compiler transforms
  • Invest in exploratory testing to identify hard-to-find bugs
  • Interfacing generated HDL with 3rd party IDEs, Simulators and Synthesis Tools to verify accuracy on hardware and enforce performance constraints


  • C/C++proficiency is required
  • MATLAB proficiency is desirable
  • VHDL or Verilog HDLproficiency is preferable

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.
