Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP is currently initiating a search for a TMC Analyst for our Ankeny, Iowa office.    TMC Analyst – will support Iowa DOT in informing the public and partner agencies on the impact of weather, construction, maintenance, and other activities; ensure that work zone setup meets department standards and conform to policies; report on and ensure that the department’s external condition reporting systems are timely and accurate; collect, analyze and report on TMC performance; conduct event-level QC on all Level 1 (2 hour lane closure duration) and Level 2 (30 minute and up to 2 hours lane closure durations) events; assist in TMC asset management and record-keeping; conduct TMC and TSMO related studies and/or investigations; assist in ITS scope development; and work with contractors to correct reporting deficiencies in TMC systems. Additionally, the TMC coordinator will support the program manager and TMC assistant manager with Quality Control on event logged into the ATMS. TMC analysis shall support or perform AAR with Iowa DOT and first responders for all Level 1 events and must become proficient in all operations staff tasks. Responsible for monitoring snow plow operations via the Snow Plow Tracking application and roadway condition via RWIS.   Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Program and and TMC Assistant Manager with the supervising of the staff
  • Agency Point of Contact
  • Subject matter expert for Shift Supervisor, TMC Operators and the department. 
  • Act as an Operator, Shift Supervisor, and TMC Coordinator  as needed
  • Assist with the monitor the status of the Iowa DOT transportation network statewide and provide detailed written and verbal reports to the appropriate departmental personnel and partners.
  • Process and consolidate information received from multiple sources into clearly written situation reports.Facilitate coordination between other government agencies and municipal partners during incidents and emergency activations.
  • Compose, record and post information to the department’s ATIS system.
  • Ensure the TMC’s readiness as a coordination center during emergencies.
  • Dispatch Highway Helper and perform agency coordination.

  • Must have TMC Operator experience or equivent experience
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent technical training
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
  • Ability to professionally interact with all levels of management
  • Must have an aptitude for providing excellent customer service
  • Proficiency with multiple computer systems, including but not limited to; Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and various GIS and web-based information systems
  • Willingness to respond during weather emergencies and ability to work overtime when the need arises.
  • Pass a Drug Screening plus Iowa DOT Driver License and Crimial Background Check
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some College education
  • Supervisor experience
  • 7 years of experience
  • 2 years of senior level coordinator experience
