Biogen's Co-op Program is a 6-month, full-time experience where you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge beyond the classroom, partner with industry-leading professionals, and networkwithfellow students as you engage in exciting projects.

Together, we pioneer.

In collaboration with the MSRU, the neural circuit group studiedamouse model of MS and developed neurophysiological functional markers reflecting disease progression and remyelination. These markers are now successfully used for detecting efficacy ofBiogen'sre-myelination therapies.


The project for the co-op student will encompass two arms:

  1. Data collection for MSRU project using existing recording protocol; testing the effect of therapeutic compounds on demyelination and remyelination in mice using longitudinal in-vivo neurophysiological recordings.For each experiment, this includes bi-weekly recordings from mice for the duration of amonth, andtransfer the data in an organized manner for data analysis. Summarize results and discuss significance.
  2. Exploratory work: Further explore ways to optimizeand developthe recording protocol. This can be done by studying theneurophysiological responses to different sensory stimuli. Alternatively, the student will study the effect of different degrees of demyelination (exposure time todemyelination toxic compound) on therapeutic intervention andephysbiomarkers.

If the co-op is comfortable with computer coding, theywill have the opportunity toperformdata analysis.


To participate in the Biogen Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
