We are looking for a Data Systems Programmer (DSP) – Algorithms Specialist who highly values research, wants to work with multifaceted datasets, and craves new challenges in programming. As a DSP, you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience integrating and structuring the healthcare data that shapes policy on many key topics, such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid. You will also have the chance to work closely with seasoned programmers, developing the skills to work with software analytic tools and coding languages. In addition, you will work alongside smart, vibrant people with a passion for the exciting future of healthcare research.

The Data Systems Programmer – Algorithms Specialist will:

  • Develop and validate complex algorithms, including linkage across multitudes of databases and optimizing run-time efficiency.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) big data.
  • Design and create processing and querying programs that integrate data into the company’s in-demand data management systems.
  • Optimize programs for top-notch performance in complex data-manipulation procedures.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated DSP team and in-house researchers to maintain systems, produce documentation, and educate internal and external users about company resources.
  • Perform validation checks across multiple sources to verify data integrity as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications Required

  • A Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Health Economics, Public Policy, or related field with quantitative emphasis.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with one or more computer programming languages.

Qualifications Desired

  • Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Health Economics, Public Policy, or 2+ years of work experience in a field with quantitative emphasis.
  • Interest in big data.
  • Previous experience in a Data Analyst/Data Systems position a plus, but not required.
  • 1+ years of experience with computer programming languages a plus, but not required.
