The Veterans Administration Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) is part of America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at various health care facilities, including medical centers and outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics). Nationwide, the VA serves 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
Work under this contract will be performed at all Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) access points including Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and Community Living Centers (CLC) in numerous locations in Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Golden, LaJunta, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa, Salida, Lamar, Burlington and Ft. Carson.
*This Position Is Contingent upon Contract Award*
Provide the full range of PACU nursing services within the professional scope of practice for a variety of operative procedures. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Head-to-toe assessments. Knowledge of normal versus abnormal findings and reporting of abnormal findings to Charge Nurse and/or M.D., if warranted.
Critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for urgent/emergent care. Care of acute and chronically ill patients.
Knowledge of hemodynamics.
Basic IV and central line skills.
Basic understanding of cardiac monitoring equipment.
The ability to identify and manage life-sustaining physiologic functions in unstable patients.
Conduct postoperative patient evaluations, summon the appropriate specialist in emergency situations and provide nursing care as necessary throughout the postoperative episode. Ensure that all JCAHO standards for professional nursing care are met during performance of care.
Complete appropriate medical record forms in compliance with VA guidelines and policies for each patient.
Verify the content and correctness of all recorded entries in the patient record.
All documentation/records/reports must meet or exceed established VA standards to include, but not limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. The outpatient record shall be completed the same day the patient is seen.
Respond to emergency codes as directed and summon appropriate backup from the clinical and hospital staff.
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and others individual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population and in the Community.
Other duties, as assigned.
Diploma, Associates Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an NLN accredited program, college or university (BSN preferred).
Current license to practice as a RN in any state.
Shall have been actively practicing as a PACU nurse for the past two years.
Tele-Health experience is required.
Capable of performing both scrub and circulating functions within the operating room.
Have and maintain current BCLS certification.
ACLS certification is required.
Have no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
Have documented training and skills verification.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
