The Veterans Administration Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) is part of America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at various health care facilities, including medical centers and outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics). Nationwide, the VA serves 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
Work under this contract will be performed at all Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) access points including Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and Community Living Centers (CLC) in numerous locations in Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Golden, LaJunta, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa, Salida, Lamar, Burlington and Ft. Carson.
** This Position is Contingent Upon Contract Award**
Under general supervision, the Sterile Processing Technician decontaminates, cleans, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes reusable medical devices and supplies used in patient care. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Decontaminates and cleans reusable equipment and/or supplies and associated storage units in accordance with department, manufacturer, and OSHA Standards.
Assembles stores and distributes reusable medical equipment and or supplies for patient care.
Rounds assigned areas to ensure equipment and/or supplies and storage units are maintained in a timely manner.
Maintains appropriate documentation of equipment/supply processing.
Adheres to proper infection control and safety practices. Ensures proper handling of instruments and equipment to prevent damage or loss.
Monitors for equipment and/or supplies in need of repair or replacement and notifies appropriate department personnel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
12 months of continuous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, within the past 3 years.
Have and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)certification.
Have no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
Have documented training and skills verification
Must be able to travel as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
Ability to organize workload and use effective time management
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and others individual differences in the workplace.
