The Veterans Administration Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) is part of America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at various health care facilities, including medical centers and outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics). Nationwide, the VA serves 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
Work under this contract will be performed at all Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHS) access points including Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and Community Living Centers (CLC) in numerous locations in Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Golden, LaJunta, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa, Salida, Lamar, Burlington and Ft. Carson.
** This Position is Contingent Upon Contract Award**
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Takes and records blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weight.
Annotates patient chart with vital signs, pertinent history and level of pain. Alerts provider of any acute issues stated by patient.
Obtains routine specimen for laboratory analysis and perform standard tests. Insures proper identification of specimens and delivers them to laboratory, always insuring proper PPE requirements are met.
Assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments. Acts as chaperon when needed or requested by provider.
Apply/remove bandages, binders, simple dressings and hot and cold packs.
Performs electrocardiographs and notifies Physician of results.
Assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments.
Assists patients with proper use of o2 equipment, insuring proper fit for mask or canula.
Accompany patients in wheelchairs, on litters or ambulatory within the hospital as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
12 months of continuous experience as a MA, within the past 3 years.
Have and maintain current BCLS certification (AHA or Military Training Network).
Have no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
Have documented training and skills verification
Must be able to travel as required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgement, and attention to detail
Ability to organize workload and use effective time management
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other
individual differences in the workplace.
