Job Description

WSP USA is a global consulting firm assisting public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain thousands of critical infrastructure projects around the world. The candidate will gain experience in the implementation of transportation projects, specifically, bridge/structure engineering aspects of roadway, highway and transit improvements.    WSP is initiating a search for a Bridge/Structures Engineer for our San Francisco, CA office within our West Technical Excellence Center (TEC). 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Team player performing engineering tasks for bridges and other structural elements
  • Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, technical memorandums and other similar work products
  • Perform load rating for steel and concrete bridge structures
  • Review shop drawings and requests for information during construction
  • Collaborate with west structures team and other disciplines to support structure-centered needs of our clients
  • Maintain/establish an industry involvement to support professional development and firm recognition 
  • Complete engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control, cost control, quality control, and project objectives.

  • Desire to bring innovative and creative solutions to our clients
  • Self-starter and proactive with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams across offices.
  • Bachelor degree with civil/structures engineering focus
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil or structural engineering for transportation agencies.
  • EIT/FE Certification and ability to obtain PE within one year
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge standards and procedures
  • MS degree with civil/structures engineering focus
  • Experience with seismic design of transportation structures
  • Software expertise with CAD and structure focused design packages
