Location: Los Angeles Refinery –Carson & Wilmington, CA.
The MPC Los Angeles Refinery is currently seeking applicants to fill full-time Welder positions.
Welders lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble piping systems, structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. In addition to welding, this person will be expected to flex in pipefitting and rigging crafts. This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman.
Perform code welding on pipe, plate and structural steel.
Perform code welding of carbon steel and alloys.
Perform journeyman level pipefitting, layout, and construction of piping. Make orthographic and isometric drawings or sketches of piping systems.
Perform journeyman level rigging tasks and operate small cranes when needed.
High School graduate or GED equivalent, required
Minimum 5 years’ journeyman level welding experience in the refining, chemical, power industry, or relatedmilitary experience
Journeyman level qualified
Good communication skills
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Successful completion of a skills assessment
SCHEDULE: Welders will work a 4 day/10 hour per day schedule and must be available for weekend shifts and overtime.
COMPENSATION: Starting rate is $45.81 per hour, with qualified journeyman experience, and highly competitive benefits including retirement and medical. This is a represented position.
All Maintenance Craft positions work in various environmental conditions in the refinery, including but not limited to indoors such maintenance shops, outdoors in open areas, process units, at heights, underground and confined spaces. Must be able to stand, walk, lift and carry up to 50-pounds. Safety-sensitive work environment that requires compliance with pre-employment physical and drug & alcohol screening, along with a continuous random drug & alcohol testing program.
