The Senior Automation Engineer will maintain and troubleshoot all process control system hardware and software (DeltaV DCS, Rockwell PLC) in support of the Development scale biopharmaceutical process. This person will be responsible for implementing various control strategies and software solutions in support of new products and processes within the manufacturing process development areas. The incumbent should be fluent with various other Automation systems including Data Historian (OSI PI), Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), and Rockwell PLCs. They will lead and manage medium to large engineering projects with little direction; support development Manufacturing operations through 24/7 on call rotation; and participate in multi-function teams to implement change and improve on existing processes.
Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides software and hardware support for the Automation systems in the Technical Development areas including DeltaV, OSI PI, Finesse reactors, Rockwell PLCs
Configures software for new processes or equipment introduced into the technical development process areas. Includes configuring existing code and developing new control strategies for new and existing processes.
Provides training and guidance to Technical Development personnel on operation and capabilities of the Automation systems and new\modified process control strategies
Maintains training, develops goals and tracks progress
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or Computer Sciences with at least 8+ years in the Biotech industry
Comprehensive knowledge of DeltaV distributed control system
Working knowledge of PLCs, OSI PI, DAS systems
Biotechnology or batch pharmaceutical experience production experience preferred.
Experience in Biotechnology Manufacturing specific areas: Cell Culture, Chromatography, Centrifugation, CIP\SIP preferred
