Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector for our Buffalo, New York office.   Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Inspect water/wastewater infrastructure construction activities performed by contractors. This includes reviewing work to be in conformance with the plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Communicate with all project personnel including contractors, WSP and other inspection staff, the owner, material testers, surveyors, etc.
  • Create complete daily inspection reports that document all on site activities
  • Create computation sheets to support pay items
  • Attend and facilitate meetings
  • Project coordination with stakeholders
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Occasional evening and weekend work likely

  • Minimum 13 years of relevant experience, including at least 10 in a lead inspection capacity
  • Construction inspection experience with treatment facilities, pump stations, including electrical, communications and controls systems (i.e. SCADA), structural and heavy civil disciplines
  • Experience in leading construction management, inspection and administration of public infrastructure projects
  • Experience performing construction field inspection, coordinating resolution of requests for information, negotiating and preparing change orders, and coordinating submittal review
  • Experience representing owners in overseeing public infrastructure projects and communicating/coordinating with contractors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on construction projects on the airside of an active airport
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience, including at least 10 in a lead inspection capacity
