MathWorks has established a technical team dedicated to developing the technical strategy and driving the execution to increase usage of MATLAB and Simulink in Student Competitions around the world. If you have experience with MATLAB and Simulink and are passionate about building and leading a team that will drive adoption of MATLAB and Simulink among students this role is for you.

As the manager of the North American Student Competition team you will build and lead the MathWorks technical team dedicated to increasing adoption in Student Competitions. You will provide strong leadership, coaching, guidance to your team members and empower them to work to achieve their technical goals. You will put your passion for MATLAB and Simulink into action by working directly with students, researchers, competition organizers and faculty and grow the usage and understanding of our products within Student Competitions and education. Through these efforts you and your team will prepare and support the next generation of scientists and engineers with software, training, and mentoring to tackle the same technical issues as professional engineers.


  • Build and lead a technical team in North America focused on supporting future engineers and students to adopt MATLAB and Simulink

    • Recruit individuals with student competition experience and a true passion for MATLAB and Simulink.
    • Visit strategic customers at events and universities with your team members to understand the use of MATLAB and Simulink.
    • Model the way for your team members by creating and executing technical strategies for your own areas of expertise.
    • Build and nurture relationships with key decision makers in the Student Competition Community; enlist them as advocates for the use of MATLAB and Simulink among students.
    • Manage the internal technical content creation plan for videos, file exchange, and blogs.

  • Collaborate with Education Business managers and stakeholder in executing the business strategy for growing usage in the student market.

    • Work with the Worldwide Education Programs Manager and internal Education stakeholders to drive alignment between their business plans for student usage and growth.
    • Collaborate with the Edu Marketing Management team to build new programs and technical content for students worldwide.
    • Deliver papers and presentations at appropriate Student Competitions and Educational events.
    • Synthesize your team's customer facing experiences into student trends academia and advocate for the impact of those on MathWorks product plans and internal development strategies.
    • Develop content and lead your team to develop scalable content to help teams be successful using MATLAB and Simulink.


  • Effective leadership and coaching skills; ability to hire, guide, motivate, and inspire others
  • Experience leading or participating in a Student Competition as either a teacher or a student.
  • Ability to lead both technical and non-technical projects.
  • Experience as a professor or postdoc developing proposals for student funding/projects.
  • Marketing experience with global technical software company.
  • Prior employment with a global software company involved in scientific computing, data analysis and/or modeling and simulation tools.
  • Technical experience in either Robotics or Autonomous Driving.

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel 25% to 50% of the time
  • Experience with Simulink
  • Experience with MATLAB
