Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic Region is accepting applications for Shop Technician Entry Level - Rents for our Waldorf branch.


The Shop Technician Entry Level– Rents is responsible for preparing rental equipment for transport, including ensuring optimal performance level and performing basic maintenance and repairs to Caterpillar and allied rental equipment. Perform rental delivery and return inspections. Prepare rental equipment for transport to customer sites or customer pick-up. Assist technicians with various tasks, including washing parts, filling oils and coolants, disassemblies/ assemblies, as needed. Perform basic repairs, i.e., replacing batteries, jump starting machines, replacing belts, changing light bulbs, removing and installing small hydraulic cylinders, changing water pumps, starters and alternators; replacing tires; removing and installing buckets; switching out attachments. Perform basic maintenance on both Caterpillar and allied rental equipment, including changing/charging batteries, changing oil and filters, hydraulic oil and filters, and differential and final drive oils; and replacing hoses, changing tires and repairing lights; grease machines and take oil samples. Troubleshoot operational problems, i.e., machine not starting, moving or steering; machine making noises, lights not working or loose belts, and other similar operational problems. Wash machines, clean cabs and windows. Interpret and apply information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins. Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms. Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner. Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment. Perform various other duties as assigned.


Previous mechanical repair experience and/or Certification of Graduation from a Diesel Technology Trade School. Must have experience performing basic maintenance, including checking fluid levels, changing oil, replacing fuel filters, change water pumps, starters, and other similar basic tasks. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and experience using computer software. Must possess ability to assemble and repair work tools. Must possess ability to clean and prepare machines; and perform minor repairs to external engine parts on Caterpillar and comparable equipment.
