Job Description

Manages the warranty program and provides oversight and manages subcontractors and/or Blattner crews as we complete warranty work. Responsible for the following: Owner Coordination, Engineering Coordination, Vendor Coordination, Resolution Management and Resource Coordination, Warranty Program Administration, and Lessons Learned back into the Organization Value Driver.

Education Requirements: A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; or a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience.

Experience: Five years experience supervising solar construction; wind experience a plus. Technical acumen to understand the innerworkings of a solar plant, and administrative skills to properly communicate via email and verbal conversations with our employees, owners, and vendors is required.

Position Summary:  Manages the warranty program and provides oversight and manages subcontractors and/or Blattner crews as we complete warranty work. Essential Job Functions

  1. Administers the warranty resolution: including providing and obtaining an agreed upon solution with the Owner which shall include consulting with the respective Project Manager in determining whether a claim is contractually valid or not.
  2. Communicates to the client as the main point of contact for administering the warranty claim process through completion for each project.
  3. Responsible for coordinating resources to evaluate the claim as well as completing any remediation.  This would include both internal and external resources. Ensures root cause analysis is completed for each claim. Develops and reviews work plans required for remediation work. Provides to General Superintendents for approval if additional technical expertise is required.
  4. Partners with the jobsites in finding a local contractor to support warranty claim support during the warranty period including establishing a master agreement with negotiated terms and costs for each. Verifies local contractor or other service provider credentials. The Warranty Manager will ultimately contract and manage the local contractor.
  5. Manages required spare parts for each job and the portfolio to ensure adequate response time as well as cost effective warranty management. This would include Blattner owned inventory and available supplier inventory.
  6. Would communicate and work with internal Engineers and external Engineers of Record on warranty resolution and future issue prevention.
  7. Manages warranty claims across all projects to identify any trends including frequency, types, vendors, etc. Any discoveries would then be communicated to project management, purchasing and estimating. Generates NCR for claims as necessary and identifies accountable parties.
  8. Maintains and enhances Operation and Maintenance manual, which shall provide expectations of the Owner to maintain the plant according to Blattner and applicable standards. Determines preventative maintenance items for our Owners. Assists with Owner Contract development related to O&M obligations and warranty provisions. Assists project teams with warranty hand-off process to Owners.

  • Identifies opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste in order to improve efficiency.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
  • Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
  • Possess a solid understanding of job costing.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
  • Knows and understand the required federal and state codes for projects.
  • Some travel is required.
