Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP USA is seeking a highly motivated Structural Bridge Design Engineer I for our Charlotte, North Carolina Structures Group! The successful candidate will be responsible for structural analysis and design of a variety of structure types, the majority of which are related to highway bridges. Projects will range in size from small scale infrastructure improvements to large high profile projects.   Responsibilities include:
  • Under close supervision, will perform various engineering assignments which require the application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Assist more experienced engineers in structural/bridge engineering activities
  • Perform routine engineering functions
  • Prepare basic sketches and structural calculations in support of broader engineer activities
  • Gather and record information to be used for writing specifications
  • Prepare technical studies and reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university with a focus in structural engineering.
  • 1+ year(s) of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)
  • E.I.T. certification or ability to obtain within six months
  • Experience with in MicroStation, MathCad and structural analysis software (at least one), such as LARSA, SAP2000, and/or others
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with a focus in structural engineering
  • Experience designing bridge structures
  • Experience with CADD (microstation preferred)
