 Job description             

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, detail-oriented, self-motivated team player to join our team in Eugene. You must have the ability to multi‐task in a fast‐paced setting. Experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry is desirable.

In this job as the Director of Business Development and Marketing you'll support our overall business development, sales and marketing efforts by taking on responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Organize, plan, schedule and manage the company’s business development efforts.
  • Develop and lead the company in sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities.
  • Develop, review and report on the business development strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are understood and executed.
  • Develop and present a business development budget for executive approval, then prudently manage resources within those budgetary guidelines.
  • Lead the coordination, development and production of proposals, Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Qualifications (RFQs), Pre-Qualifications Submittals,  Submittals of Qualifications (SOQs), marketing materials and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output in a deadline intensive environment.
  • Interviewing team members and drafting targeted content for proposals and qualifications
  • Work in conjunction with President and Chief Estimator to select projects to pursue.
  • Meet regularly with marketing and business development staff to discuss coordination of department initiatives, campaigns, and upcoming projects
  • Coordinate technical writing from various construction and design teams by collaborating with President, Estimators and Project Managers.
  • Participate in all aspects of marketing deliverables including the development and updating of standard materials (project job descriptions, resumes), writing, graphics, document editing, content review, printing and final document assembly.
  • Develop the ability to tell stories - stories about clients, projects, people and Chambers - and incorporate these stories into proposals that address the unique needs of each client
  • Creating external and internal deliverables containing feature/benefits and other audience-centric content
  • Assists with the development of website content and maintenance of the website
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of social media and branding initiatives
  • Updating and maintenance of marketing collateral and all forms of advertising including signage, advertisement development, and event planning
  • Assist in conducting research for the different market sectors to understand our clients - who they are, what’s top of mind and key trends. The right candidate will possess curiosity around the “why” and “how” of our work and excitement in translating this into strategies that tie into our sales deliverables.
  • Assist with organizing and maintain a filing system and database of project information to be used for submittal including updating bid board and then monitors and track project pursuits and success rate
  • Coordinate follow up on proposals as needed  
  • Conducting external research for strategic planning and pursuits as needed
  • Coordinates and tracks professional photography at the completion of projects
  • Represent the company at community and industry events
  • Develop industry award submittals to further promote company achievements and gain additional industry recognition
  • Assist in creation and editing of media / press releases
  • Orders and maintains inventory of promotional items and marketing materials
  • Actively participate in professional and community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain strong business network. 
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all marketing personnel and make recommendations for wage adjustments to President.
  • Ensure safe working environment; adhere to the general safety plan.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.    

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field such as Communications, English or Journalism
  • 5 Years’ experience desired in a marketing role. Experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry is a plus.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed or required by project or proposal deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Customer focus, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the external and internal customer, by acting with customer in mind, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers, and gaining their trust and respect.
  • Multitasking skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally. Able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with ability to self-manage project assignments from start to finish with minimal oversight.
  • Technical production skills are necessary and require a demonstrated ability to effectively use database applications, Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to balance multiple short-term deadlines against long-term goals

Physical Demands:                                       

  •  May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner.
  •  Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type.
  •  Ability to speak clearly so others can understand.
  •  Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing.
  •  Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand.
  •  Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays.

Work Environment:  This job is performed in the office and requires frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent walking, standing, bending and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists. The work environment is deadline driven and fast paced with projects and pursuits that may require time above and beyond the typical work schedule.
