Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Norristown, PA seeks a Software Engineer I to install, update, tune, diagnose, and monitor third-party data applications as a shared support service to our Data Analytics teams.
Install, configure, tune, and administer InfoSphere Information Service Suite, which provides infrastructure for Quest Diagnostics' data management needs.
Create problem management reports ("PMR") with IBM for interim fixes, refresh packs, patches, and fix packs to ensure that Quest's systems are operational.
Provide environment support and resolution of errors related to all IBM suite products.
Regularly perform upgrades of third-party tools such as DataStage and QualityStage in order for application defects to be identified and resolved to avoid interruptions in reporting.
Assist Application Teams in error resolution elevated to database products by analyzing the application error and researching the root cause.
Perform debugging process with SAS Technical Support using SQL.
Participate in application and infrastructure review and security audit.
Create software application users and grant required access.
Conduct on-call support for production issues.
Perform knowledge transfer to team members to organize, create, capture, or distribute knowledge and ensure its availability for future users.
Document and execute pre and post installation steps of third-party applications upgrades to be repeated on additional application testing servers and production servers.
Monitor and report on the health of application environments using Unix and Linux operating systems to address any environment issues immediately to meet business expectations.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or closely related field, plus one year of experience with ETL process development for enterprise-scale databases running on Unix and Linux operating systems, including shell scripting and debugging application issues using SQL.
