Job Description

Summary:  

The part-time Facilities Assistant will fill-in for, and support, the full-time facilities staff in areas including but not limited to:  ACS Cafe and pantries assistance and maintenance, meetings and events spaces set-up and reset, and light maintenance.

The part-time Facilities Assistant will start working 4-5 hours per day, for a total of 22.5 hours per week.  Additional time will be required for evening and weekend work, and as a back-up for other staff.  Please note that there is also potential for this position to become fulltime in the future.   

This non-exempt position will report to the Operations Manager in the Division of Finance & Facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Position responsible for exterior and interior cleaning all the College’s appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, and toaster ovens) in the ACS Cafe and pantries every day.Wipe down all cafeteria tables at 1:30-2:00 PM each day. Manage weekly deep clean of all refrigerators and microwaves.
     
  • Work closely with the on-site hotel to setup catering services under the direction of Convention & Meetings staff. Assist with meeting and event spaces setup and post-event reset in the area of beverages, chairs, flip charts, dry erase boards and other equipment needed for various meetings.
     
  • Serve as an overflow and backup support resource to the three full-time Facilities team members, offering help as needed and requested. Relieving coworkers when they are on vacation. Work under the direction of Office Services, replacing floor mats, replacing name plates, delivering crates for Clinical Congress, etc.
     
  • Assist with facilities maintenance and work orders as needed and as instructed.
     
  • Assist Records Management Team as needed with office files cleanup, providing trash and recycling receptacles, and distributing file cartons and labels as directed.
     
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • A high school education or equivalent is required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
     
  • Minimum of six months experience working in customer service, maintenance, or another similar role required (summer and/or internship experience in a related role would qualify for a recent graduate); 1-2 years or more related experience a plus.
     
  • General computer literacy, including MS Office email and Word; Excel proficiency would be a plus, but training will be provided.
     
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.
  • Capable of providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. Moderate lifting over 20 pounds, reaching, bending, and stooping.  Will require the ability to sit, stand, and walk around for extended periods of time.

Other Necessary Requirements: Periodic evening or weekend duties will be required.
