Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion andChief Diversity Officer.
Primary Job Duties: The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) will be responsible for promoting diversity and inclusion across the campus through strategic planning, collaboration and innovation. The CDO will provide visionary leadership in the implementation of a University-wide strategic plan for diversity and inclusion, working in close coordination with the Office of Institutional Equity and in partnership with campus leaders, students, faculty, staff and external constituencies. The CDO will also work with other campus stakeholders to determine the measures of success and relevant timetables as it relates to the University wide strategic plan for diversity and inclusion. In addition, the CDO will develop and implement policies, programs, and activities that educate and enhance the values of diversity and inclusion at Salisbury University. The Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Minimum Qualifications: Seven to ten years of related experience and a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required. Experience in diversity and inclusion leadership, to include trainer/educator, as well as experience developing and conducting needs assessments and the appropriate response systems.
Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information; demonstrated commitment to inclusion and success in working with diverse constituencies to support an inclusive campus environment; ability to be successful as an agent for change; demonstrated experience in developing and delivering outreach materials, programs and/or presentations; strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to remain neutral, listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs; and the ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships at all levels within the University and with University constituents.
Must be detail oriented and have customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
This is a full-time, exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
