Job Description

Perform inspections on inland and offshore tugs and tank barges at the direction of management.  Need to be a strong self-starter and motivated.  Inspectors work from home with support from office located in Houston, TX

Job Requirements

  • Employee is expected the learn by training and study, to perform inspections on Inland Tank Barges, Offshore Tank Barges, Inland Towing Vessels and Offshore Towing Vessels.
  • Employee is required to attend and pass the required written exam at the OCIMF SIRE Cat 3 training course. 
  • Employee is also required to complete and pass the initial audit to acquire SIRE inspector certification.
  • Employee is expected to show sufficient knowledge to perform OCIMF member companies SIRE inspections on inland and offshore barges and towboats as directed.
  • Employee must keep a MARCOM manager advised if any questions arise on the job.
  • Employee is required to work at least 5 days per week on an “as directed” basis, by the management of Marine Compliance (MARCOM).
  • Employee is expected to demonstrate exceptional professionalism and high moral and ethical standards while representing MARCOM in any capacity.
  • Employee will read and sign that he has understanding and will abide by MARCOM policies and procedures as laid out in the MARCOM Policies and Procedures manual and Policy Handbook
  • Employee will abide by all requirements explained in the MARCOM HSSE program.
  • Employee agrees to follow all company policies that will be developed in the future. 
  • Employee understands that he is employed in an at will state and that employment can be terminated at any time if performance is not acceptable or as business dictates.  Employee must understand that he will play a vital role in developing and retaining business for MARCOM.
  • Employee agrees to obey all state, federal and local laws as they apply to the job and employment including obeying safety and traffic laws on and off the job while driving a company vehicle.
  • Employee must be able to physically perform the tasks of inspecting equipment including but not limited to:
    • Accessing vessels by crossing docks
    • Using portable walkways and “jump boards”
    • Using vertical ladders and stairways
    • Accessing machinery spaces and storage spaces not considered “confined spaces”
