The Director, ALZ Payer Marketing is accountable for planning and executing the launch of the first-to-market Alzheimer's disease modifying therapy, and following launch, is responsible for the performance and results of the Alzheimer's therapeutic area. This role is responsible for demonstrating strategic leadership across the organization to establish and enhance the value of Biogen beyond our products with payer (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid), specialty pharmacy and other third-party customers, in addition to building / executing launch plans for the therapeutic area and supporting commercial strategic planning.
This individual will be responsible for defining and executing upon Biogen's payer strategies around evolving healthcare delivery systems and quality-centric care models as it relates to Biogen's Alzheimer's Franchise, leveraging analysis of insights to drive key strategic choices. This individual will drive launch strategy and development of tactical concepts designed to bring the first disease modifying therapy to market for treating patients with Alzheimer's disease. Following launch, he/she will apply broad industry knowledge and commercial awareness to drive the performance of the therapeutic area. This individual will align closely with our external Account Management team to design customer programs and lead the execution of strategies and tactics with brand product managers and these field team members. They will also work to ensure alignment and coordination of payer strategies between the US and our Global affiliates. They will serve as a core member on the Alzheimer's therapeutic area leadership team for the purposes of strategic planning, execution management, to ensure that Market Access strategies are incorporated throughout the brand plans and tactics, and to represent the broader Market Access & Reimbursement team (e.g., Pricing & Contracting, Trade & Distribution, Strategy & Operations). The Director, ALZ Payer Marketing will develop strategies and frameworks for broader and deeper MA&R engagement with KOLs, payer membership educations, as well as other key contacts within our payer customer base.
This role will provide leadership and direction through a team of subordinate Associate Directors and Senior Managers responsible for marketing, operational and payer engagement support for the MA&R Team. This individual will provide leadership and mentorship to members of the team.
This role acts as a liaison with internal and external partners to lead and guide functional payer strategic, tactical and program development, and execute functional business plans, all guided by MA&R strategies, priorities and business plans, impacting department performance by supporting and funding projects or services. As a key internal partner of the Account Team and the broader commercial leadership team, they will work to ensure pull/push-through strategies and tactics are developed and that these are executed upon through the Account team's leadership with their aligned Field Sales Teams by negotiating with senior leaders across the business. They often lead large projects and initiatives that require significant cross functional responsibilities and directing the resolution of complex business problems by innovating beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to proactively define and resolve complex problems, often influencing and working through broad cross-functional stakeholders. They will be responsible for the regulatory and legal approval process for all market access tactics for the Alzheimer's therapeutic area.
University degree required, advanced degree highly preferred
12+ years prior experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry are required, including 5+ years in the payer marketing space
