The successful candidates will enter into a program of study and on the job training to become a Maintenance Technician.
Must have a High School diploma (and be able to provide proof of graduation)
Must have successfully passed the Compass test as needed to register for Coastal Pines Technical College.
All qualifying candidates will be required to take a computer based mechanical and math skills test. In addition, internal candidates will be ranked based on a combination of seniority, attendance, previous work history and test scores to determine the best qualified candidate.
Completion of 4,000 work hours to become certified (approx. 2 years on the job)
Progress is monitored by pre-determined Performance Assessment Records (PAR) – these are skill requirement levels and the candidate must be considered proficient and obtain Manager verification before they are moved on to the next level
May be required to successfully complete 3 required program courses at Coastal Pines Technical School. This includes obtaining a passing grade on all required tests during and at the end of the apprenticeship. (i.e. Stainless Steel Welding, Electrical Systems Basics I, AC Circuit Analyis)
While attending school, the associate is considered “non-scheduled”.
All Company benefits remain in effect for the entire apprenticeship
The Company will pay school related expenses of textbooks and tuition only
The successful candidate must agree to continue employment with Rich Products for at least 2 years after successful completion of the apprenticeship program. If an associate decides to voluntarily leave the company either before completion of the program, or after completion but before completing two years of employment, they will then be required to reimburse the company for all costs relating to schooling incurred for them with the program to date.
Internal candidates: The successful internal candidate will retain their plant seniority, however, the first day of their apprenticeship will be considered “maintenance” seniority and will be used for determination of overtime scheduling in that department for the duration of the apprenticeship. Once a maintenance technician, plant seniority will be used.

Chain Break/Channel Lock/Chisels/Common Hand Tools/EZ Out/Feeler Gages/Files/Flashlight/Hammer (Dead Blow)/Level/Lockout-Tagout/Pipe Wrench/Pry-Crow Bar/Square/Wire Belt Cutter/Wire Cutters/Wrench (Allen)
SHIFTS: As required; in order to effectively direct the apprenticeship program, the Company is not required to schedule 5 consecutive days in the work week and the successful candidate must be able to work all shifts to ensure the best training plan possible.
