Come join us and help shape the future!   We are seeking a Senior Transit Planner to make a significant contribution to WSP USA’s strategic plan to increase our project management and business development capability. The Transit Planner will conduct public transportation planning studies and analysis, in the Southeast United States, and be based out of the Nashville, Tennessee office. Responsibilities will involve conducting a wide range of planning efforts including Alternatives Analyses, short-range service plans, long-range vision plans, FTA program administration, FTA compliance oversight, and feasibility studies for commuter rail, streetcar, light rail, and bus operations.   Responsibilities
  • Conducts or assists with a range of transportation planning studies, including needs assessments, transit modal analyses, traffic studies, NEPA documents, and long-range planning
  • Develops mapping and graphical material
  • Conducts multimodal planning efforts
  • Prepares and gives briefings and makes presentations to clients, the general public, and other stakeholders
  • Prepares and reviews written technical reports
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with junior and entry-level staff and other sub consultants
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements and in monitoring project progress
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in transit planning projects such as Alternatives Analyses, NEPA, and ITS
  • Experience working with Southeastern transit agencies and cities, especially Tennessee based cities and transit agencies preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Increasing responsibility for interacting with clients, public officials, and the general public
  • Well-versed in MS Office Suite
  • Active in professional service organizations
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with transit agencies and understanding Federal Transit Administration regulations and policies
  • Well-versed in Adobe Illustrator and ArcGIS
