Job Responsibilities

Viasat is currently seeking a motivated professionalfor a position on a remote ground terminal program. In this role, you will take part in the designing, building, and day to day activities of maintaining a worldwide network of remote sensing ground stations. You will provide remote technical support to a local on-site work force, and on occasion, travel to remote locations to resolve complex problems. You will attend daily stand up meetings and report on the operational status of the worldwide network, generate daily reports for internal and external customers, and manage maintenance and troubleshooting activities for the antenna ground stations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development, Windows and Linux operating systems, Satellite Ground Stations, and Networking technologies.


  • Minimum 5+ years of satellite ground network or systems engineering experience
  • Self-motivated with the internal drive and motivation to begin and continue tasks without external supervision.
  • Advanced understanding of RF systems, antennas, and automated ground systems operations tools
  • Capable of quickly adapting to new and dynamic situations
  • Demonstrated experience providing remote technical assistance and working independently to quickly identify problems and devising temporary and/or long term solution
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN equipment
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting and work/positional tolerances
  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 35%, including international travel
  • Willing to be on-call after hours up to 30%
  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
  • US citizenship required


  • Education, training and experience to understand the principles of operation of satellite communication systems
  • Direct experience installing, operating, and repairing satellite earth stations
  • Effective analytical skills to troubleshoot problems to the root cause and to implement short- and long-term solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure and to communicate effectively directly with internal and external customers
