Job Description

Summary
Worthington Industries is seeking an Operations Transformation Manager to lead Transformation within our Pressure Cylinders business unit. This role will be responsible for setting the roadmap for operational improvements across this business as well as coordinating, enabling and executing the improvement plan at our manufacturing plants along with the local plant transformation manager and the plant leadership teams. Additionally, the SBU Operations Transformation Manager will be responsible for LEAN training and building a culture of continuous improvement at each of the plants. This individual will have a strong partnership with the individual Operations Managers, local plant transformation managers and BU Transformation team to help improve the overall efficientcies within the facility. This opportunity has great visibility and opportunity for tangible impact.

Responsibilities
  • Create/grow culture of aggressive, tangible, bottom line improvements
  • Create, analyze and evaluate plant value stream maps, metrics, and strategic goals to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities (across operations, commercial and supply chain)
  • Work with Operations Managers, plant Transformation Managers, Business Directors and BU Transformation team to build and maintain an aggressive plant improvement plan
  • Influence leadership (including Ops Directors, Business Directors, etc.) on strategic topics and help make decisions that support the needs of the business
  • Coordinate plant and corporate/BU resources to execute plant improvement plan
  • Hire, train, coach and lead high potential plant transformation team members
  • Train plant employees on basic lean tools and kaizen methodology; coordinate corporate/BU assistance for advanced lean training


Desired Experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with 5+ years of manufacturing operations, commercial, integrated planning, or plant engineering experience and/or 3+ years of experience as a lean practitioner.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and drive impact
  • Strong communications and change management skills
  • Proven record of influencing people at difference organizational levels (leaders, peers, operators etc.)
  • Short and long term project management skills
  • Lean understanding and experience required
  • Inspire and influence without authority and challenge status quo
  • Proven track record of developing teams
  • Ability to facilitate hands-on training
  • Ability to travel to various US-based plants on a regular basis as well as to Europe as and when necessary


Education
Bachelors in Operations Management or Manufacturing Engineering
