Oversee the machining of all parts through the machining process leading up to assembly and try out of the tool. Incumbent is capable of overseeing projects at an advanced level. Speed and accuracy is at the highest level. Responsible for guiding entry and intermediate level tool & Die makers.
Considered a leader in the plant. Only the very best Machinists are classified in this role. Should be actively involved in Continuous Improvement Teams within the area to promote Safety, Quality, throughput and the addition of any new equipment.
Accurate and timely Tool & Die creation
Provide guidance to lower level tool & die makers
Must be proficient at operating all tool room machines (i.e. drills, lathes, etc.)
Good technical math skills (shop math)
Receive all materials & determine process
Assemble all components
Align sections for clearances
Dowel all components in place
Assemble and repair of die components
Involved in continuous improvement efforts
Study drawings to determine priorities
Work with engineers and operations manager to determine machining
Attention to detail
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
3 to 5 years tool & die experience
Minimum of high school diploma or GED
