Job Summary
The Return To Work Manager is responsible for managing a team of Specialists who work collaboratively with employees, Walgreens Managers, the Walgreens Leave and Disability vendor, and health care professionals to facilitate the return to work process of employees allowing them to reach an optimal level of work and functioning on both a modified duty and full duty basis. Responsible for providing leadership, supervision, mentoring, and coaching/training to the team in order to promote consistency, operational excellence, and optimal customer service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing team responsible for facilitating return to work accommodations of employees, allowing them to reach an optimal level of work and functioning on both a modified duty and full duty basis.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to team when reviewing and approving escalated claims, physical job descriptions (PJDs), and other matters related to work accommodations.
  • Works with management, physicians, and other health care providers, on escalated cases, to facilitate return to work by providing job analysis, accommodation recommendations and answering questions the physician may have in regards to the patient's ability to return to work.
  • Oversees return to work proposals, proactively identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and collaborates with management and health care providers, as needed.
  • Provides a vocational opinion through the utilization of vocational resources which may include nationally recognized sources (i.e. Dictionary of Occupational Titles), internet research, vocational software to analyze and research jobs (i.e. OASYS), to identify exertion level of occupations, accommodations, transferable skills, feasibility of alternative occupations, and to identify the availability of jobs within a labor market.
  • Partners with other professionals on return to work opportunities, vocational and occupational analyses and vocational research.
  • Communicates with claims examiners, employees, managers/supervisors and Human Resources in a professional, positive and proactive manner.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with employees, management, HR, and external parties.
  • Keep current in all aspects of return to work accommodations and ADA through formal and informal training, participation in local and national professional organizations, continuous learning and reading, and general professional curiosity.
  • Represents department in cross-functional teams as a subject matter expert of return to work accommodations.
  • Maintains contact with external parties and makes recommendations on processes improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations.
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.
