CBRE Design is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This position can reside in Chicago, IL or Los Angeles, CA.

JOB SUMMARY

The Sr Mechanical Engineer provides design and engineering services for complex mechanical systems supporting large commercial and industrial projects. Develops, evaluates, and implements mechanical systems, products, and applications. Conducts research, performs tests, and modifies mechanical equipment in order to increase the efficiency and quality to meet client demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares mechanical designs and perform calculations in support of large commercial and industrial projects - both renovation and new construction.

Creates conceptual/feasibility reports, cost estimations, detailed design drawings, and mechanical evaluations.

Leads mechanical-focused projects and design tasks on as part of the MEP/Fire Protection engineering team

Assists with project scheduling and helps to monitor project budget and timeline.

Recommends safety improvements and adheres to all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives.

Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide both formal and informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of five years related industry experience.

Must have experience designing complex mechanical building systems

Revit experience is strongly preferred

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Professional Engineer license is required

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Must possess a thorough knowledge of the use, setup and operation of Windows-based computers and desktop applications such as MS-Word and MS-Excel.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
