Job Description

JOB SUMMARY  

Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns and related reports.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Processes and mails all tax returns and other tax documents to the appropriate taxing authorities and partners.

Prepares estimated tax payment vouchers and tax return extensions.

Responsible for obtaining all checks and wire transfers that are required to accompany the various tax returns, extensions and estimated tax payments.

Prepares simple tax returns and forms.

Assists in domestic audits by collecting information to provide to the auditors.

Assists in responding to tax notices from various domestic tax agencies.

Maintains and updates the legal database.

Maintains all tax files and tax library.

Provides all required administrative support to the tax department.

Other duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

None. Provides no informal or formal direction to co-workers.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE  

Associate's degree (AA/AS) and a minimum of two to four years of related experience and/or training.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES  

None.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS  

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE  

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.


REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES  




SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY  

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
