The Release Manager (RM) will ensure the successful delivery of changes and releases to the Technical HR ecosystem’s Pre-Production and Production Workday environments. The Technical HR Ecosystem consists of a wide array of human capital management (HCM) / human resource information systems (HRIS), including Workday, that enable our employee lifecycle (Recruiting, Onboarding, Compensation, Learning, Talent, & Payroll).
The Release Manager will:
Be responsible for the change, release, and production environment management process as well as integrated process design, optimization, and strategy.
Will execute the day-to-day operations of the Digital HR Technology Release management function.
Work alongside cross-functional teams to effect deployments, post deployment validation & logical conclusion of release windows.
Be responsible for indirectly leading a department in daily change and release management operations, including directing targeted areas of process improvements and executing on the technology strategy for the HR Technology & Information Strategy team.
The Release Manager should have experience in:
Deep Experience (at least 2 years) in Software Release Management – Planning, Change Approval Processes, Knowledge of Quality Assurance / Management & Deployment Processes
Experience with Workday, specifically the Workday Adoption Center and Touchpoints Toolkit a plus.
Experience in independently developing, implementing, and refining Release Management plans, coordinating with functional, quality assurance, development, and operations teams
Experience in handling ad hoc releases based on business-critical needs, making release rollback decisions based on health/challenges encountered during release windows
Experience in organizing Release management Calls with multiple stakeholders including Senior Leadership, Functional/Product Owners, QA & Dev Leads, Deployment / Operations leaders
Experience in creating, monitoring & modifying Release Management Processes & policies through analysis of current methods
Experience in the program management, development, and/or testing of software Applications
Hands-on experience in generating executive & detailed reports for Release Management summaries
Experience with defining, monitoring, tracking, reporting & addressing challenges during Release Management windows.
Experience in working with diverse, multi-discipline teams spread across geographies.
Experience with MicroFocus Quality Management Suite (ALM, ALM Octane) or similar application lifecycle management tools
Experience creating, executing, or engaging with test automation tools UFT, Selenium, Kainos Smart, or Katalon
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Plan, coordinate, execute & complete all Production Release windows with minimal service disruption & any unplanned downtimes / service degradation.
Collaborate with functional owners and business owners to prioritize and deploy feature functionality while ensuring the integrity of existing solutions.
Intently develop subject matter expertise in functional and technical processes associated with the Digital HR Technology Strategy team
Collaborate with the Quality Management function to determine the test automation needs and approach for deploying releases in a timely and efficient manner.
Confirm all activities related to Planned / Unplanned Releases with appropriate stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery
Be available to manage situations in the event escalation is required following changes or releases in Pre-Production / Production environments
Creating, owning and ensuring the maintenance of any associated release or change documentation and processes
Provide the relevant management information relating to all changes and releases, including detailed trend analysis to show performance
Hold regular change and release performance reviews with business, product & delivery teams to discuss areas of success and areas of concern.
Completing the relevant minutes to track any actions and feedback
Define, document, and maintain full roles and responsibilities for Release Management function
Implement key performance indicators (KPIs)
Undertake any other relevant tasks, determined required by the Release Management leadership team
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work off regular hours and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer Science or IT or equivalent technical discipline)
6-9 Years of experience in an information technology, software engineering or product development equivalent work environment
2+ years in a Release Management function or similar function.
