Located in North-West Austin in Texas, the Austin Innovation Center is looking for a Software Engineer who wants to contribute and make a difference in Home Security and Home Automation across the United States and Europe. The Xfinity Home team is responsible for planning, designing, developing, testing and delivery of highly robust and scalable platform services.
In this role you will collaborate with other developers, designers, testers, and product managers to develop features for the Xfinity Home platform running in AWS. The primary responsibilities will include developing micro-services for the Xfinity Home platform. You must be able to pick up new languages and technologies quickly, be a strong team player, and rapidly adapt to changing business and customer demands. The ideal candidate will have experience building and testing Web Services. Job duties include a balance between development and fast-paced critical thinking, written and verbal communication, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- 0-2 years experience building Java-based web services and web applications
- Proficient in software development methodologies including object-oriented programming languages, concepts and design
- Experience building microservices and web applications using standard protocols such as HTTP and SSL/TLS
- Strong debugging skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with cloud computing and Amazon Web Services
- Experience programming in either Java, NodeJS, GO, or equivalent
- Knowledge of source control systems like GitHub Enterprise, GitHub, or similar
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, CloudFormation or similar
- DevOps experience
- Test automation experience
- Agile/Scrum enthusiast
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs. Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of software releases. Researches, writes and edits technical documentation including requirements, software designs, evaluation plans, test results, recommendations and reports. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers. Demonstrates the application of software development methodologies, concepts, and skills in daily work
