Job Responsibilities

As the Product Development Program Manager, you will lead in the planning, coordinating and execution of the efforts associated with the development of products and services for our Global Business Solutions group (GBS). You will be required to drive GBS internal, Viasat Internal (non GBS), and external resources to ensure the timely release of quality products that solve challenging and meaningful customer problems. You will engage with multiple organizations and be responsible for the execution of product goals through all of the Product Lifecycle Phases. You will drive stakeholders to generate schedules, manage scope, communicate release status, ensure tasks are completed on time, measure and improve quality metrics, and overcome roadblocks. Responsibilities:

  • Work with product management, development, finance, sales, marketing, and other stake holders to ensure clarity of product goals and requirements
  • Drive stakeholders to promptly develop solution scope, cost, and schedule projections
  • Be the "glue" between agile teams, Go To Market stakeholders, and management to ensure product deliverables and plans meet overall divisional objectives
  • Evaluate program constraints and tradeoffs and make recommendations of scope and schedule to meet product/program goals
  • Ensure all elements of the customer experience are being properly and efficiently addressed by program and product plans
  • Drive stakeholders to develop and complete their tasks on time. Follow up as necessary to ensure schedules are being met. (This includes all tasks from initial business planning through go-to-market planning, and post release success monitoring)
  • Prepare for and lead gate reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement in product development and release processes.
  • Provide periodic summary reports on program status
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure timely and accurate billing occurs upon completion of work and deliverables are secured from vendor partners
  • Ensure concise and efficient management and retention of product documentation
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in program management in high tech environments.
  • Proven work experience as a project manager with successful delivery records.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Excellent planning and organizational skill sets
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with product development and product life cycles (PLC)Strong analytic, problem-solving and conceptual skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exert strong influence over disparate teams to accomplish product goals
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent time management skills
  • Experience in launching service products
  • Demonstrated understanding of Customer Journeys and Customer Experience Maximization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in Carlsbad, CA or College Station, TX
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence status may be required for some projects in which case, verification of such status will be required upon accepting employment.
  • Ability to pass security clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferences
  • Experience with MS Project or other scheduling/tasking tools, Wikis
  • Experience with software quality assurance tasks and mobile technologies
