Armed Security Sergeant - Rover Operations

The Armed Sergeant position is responsible for constant perimeter and environment communications and documentation. These are officers who most frequently will be the first to detect anything out of the ordinary that could escalate into a major adverse event or situation, if proper action is not taken. It is the sole responsibility of the Rover to document and observe all perimeter fencing and external activities during tours of property. Vendor WII require that certain tours be performed according to an established schedule, as well as unscheduled constant roving to adequately deter theft and property damage.

In the event of property damage or other incident, KMMG may seek to hold Vendor liable if available information (e.g., time-line documentation, reports, witness statements) indicate that said damage or incident could have been avoided or minimized but for the fact that the Rover was not performing his or her duties consistent with this section or in Post Orders pertaining to the Rover position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in investigative techniques, problem resolution, conflict management, and evidence handling. Vendor's Site Security Chief will provide adequate training in these matters upon assignment and periodically thereafter, and will verify the effectiveness of such training through appropriate post-training assessments.

 Ability to qualify and carry a firearm.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

 Current CPR and First Aid training certificate.

  • Capable of handling the physical requirements of the position.

 At least 21 years old at the time of assignment to facility.

 Practice normal hygiene and personal cleanliness and be neat in dress and appearance.

 Required state certification and/or licensing to carry a firearm as an armed guard, Duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Safeguard KMMG Team Members, suppliers, contractors, visitors, assets, and property.

 Identify Team Members, suppliers, contractors, and other authorized personnel entering the KMMG Site.

  • Follow all post orders respective to the assignment and conform to the articles covered in the general orders.
  • Carry a firearm as permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

 Patrol KMMG and Onsite Supplier parking lots and buildings.

  • Operate vehicles issued to KMMG to patrol the site.
  • Be alert to identify and deter any persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to the KMMG facility or the KMMG Site.
  • Provide directions and assistance to KMMG Team Members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and visitors, and guests.

 Be alert to hazards that may cause fires, explosions, and other catastrophes through close observation of KMMG and on-site buildings, machinery, vehicles, electrical equipment, and personnel, and upon discovery of an unsafe condition or practice notify the KMMG designated representative.

 Respond to emergency conditions within assigned building or department, take necessary action in accordance with established procedures, and promptly report the conditions and initial response to KMMG's Designee, to KMMG management representatives, shift supervisor and/or local fire or police agencies.

 Prepare and maintain Incident Reports for events identified in security procedures for the Site.

  • Enforce KMMG safety and security regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit written reports for any and all events/situations outside of normal operating conditions.

 Handle other security responsibilities as needed.  Conduct hourly inspections of buildings, facilities, parking, etc., using a watchman's tour system as approved by KMMG.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
  • Valid guard card/license, as required in the state for which you are applying. 
  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
  • Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment)
  • Able to:
    • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
    • Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
    • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
    • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures the facility is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons
  • Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises
  • Participates in industry specific security/safety training programs to offer our clients the best trained officers at their sites
  • Works in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others
  • Maintains awareness and familiarity with the site-specific operations performance manual and post orders
