Polaris Alpha, a Parsons Company, has an opening for a System Administrator supporting an integrated mission system at Naval Air Station Patuxent River. The System Administrator will provide system administration for infrastructure and establish and maintain security as it relates to users; apply security patches and operating system upgrades to ensure the security and integrity of the technical environment;support new infrastructure projects; maintain all configuration documentation for assigned infrastructure; analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues with IT infrastructure including user systems, servers, storage and network connectivity. In this position you will:
Assist in planning, testing, and configuring systems for production and lab environments.
Participate in planning, monitoring, testing, maintaining, and operating multiple operating system environments.
Recommend improvements to the Development and Test Environment.
Ensure the rigorous application of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems.
Support and interact with the cybersecurity system engineers, system administrators, system engineers, and developers.
Perform security assessments using DoD provided tools; reporting results to the cybersecurity system engineer; and developing strategies to mitigate discrepancies.
Assist in the day to day management and maintenance of network infrastructure including log and system monitoring, end user issue resolution, backup verification, Internet and LAN connectivity issues, access control management, email connectivity issues, virus and malware mitigation, etc.
Provide Linux and Windows system administration services.
Provide system administration support and administer, configure, and troubleshoot RedHat Linux servers and workstations and Windows workstations.
Assist in deployment of a complex system consisting of virtual machines and containers
5+ years of hands-on technical experience supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, internet and intranet systems.
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
U.S. citizen with at minimum a SECRET Clearance
Microsoft MCP, Linux+, and CCNA Certification
Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification, CISSP, Security+
Excellent written, verbal and customer service communications skills
Ability to work in a collaborative, customer-facing and secure operational work environment
Ability to self-direct and self-manage workload comprised of multiple, parallel activities with little to no managerial oversight
Experience operating and maintaining the security posture of an information system running Windows and/or Linux operating systems
Experience with Windows andLinux system administration
Experience developing and maintaining network access controls
Familiarity with drawings and contribute to documents that support cyber tasking (e.g. updating and maintaining network diagrams)
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Knowledge of and experience with virtualization
Knowledge of and/or experience with containerization
Experience with the administration and maintenance of Windows Active Directory group policies and users
Experience using Microsoft Visio
Experience with Cisco and Brocade switches
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain, or currently possess Secret clearance.
