Merakey is seeking an Assistant House Manager to join our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (IDD) division in Coraopolis, Pa.

Qualified entry level candidates are eligible for up to an additional $2/hour if the Enhanced Pay Program is selected.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Assistant House Managers are responsible for assisting with the complete operation of a living unit and the developmentally disabled individuals who reside there. The Assistant House Managers are responsible for assisting with developing and implementing all facets of home life, as close to a normal family unit as possible. In addition, they must develop an appropriate and wholesome environment within the living unit for all residents. Supervision of this position is provided by the House Manager. They, in turn, provide supervision and evaluation of subordinate staff. The Assistant House Manager will assume the duties of the House Manager in his/her absence. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises the residents in the maintenance of the living unit and its grounds so as to present a neat, clean and comfortable environment for all residents
  • Responsible for the instruction if living skills on a group and/or individual basis including grooming, personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation and etiquette.
  • Reviews goal plans to determine measurable goals, methods of approach, and verifies through review of resident records that plans are being implemented, documented and revised as necessary.
  • Holds meetings as necessary for the discussion of matters concerning the improvement and welfare of the residents and the home.
  • Provides a desirable residential atmosphere based on the AVS philosophy which advocates the full rights of the residents and demands that staff perform in a mature, wholesome and responsible manner.
  • Assists the House Manager in planning and coordinating off-campus trips and assign those staff attending these activities.
