Job Description



The GWS SCM Senior Sourcing Manager (SSM) of Business Solutions and Implementation is responsible for end-to-end delivery of successful supply chain solutions for GWS integrated facilities management clients. In our FM delivery model, a significant portion of work is subcontracted, including janitorial services, landscaping and snow removal, food services and catering, waste removal, and others. These subcontracted services are a core part of our proposition, and the SSM of Business Solutions and Implementation role is accountable across three critical stages of engagement:

(1) Creating winning, bespoke proposals that leverage the best of CBRE's supply chain and category management practice;

(2) Developing achievable yet competitive financial and service commitments, and owning the plan to meet them;

(3) Smoothly transitioning client accounts into a new supply chain and positioning the go-forward operations team for success

The successful candidate will have demonstrated capability to develop sourcing solutions, pricing and savings plans for the in-scope services. They will have a track record of balanced business management that combines competitive/aggressive savings goals with realistic and risk-mitigated plans that deliver on-time and on-budget. The candidate will have working knowledge of facility management products and services including maintenance, janitorial, grounds, mail room services, food services, waste management, etc. The successful candidate will be an excellent listener and collaborator who can align the directions, goals, and demands of (a) clients, (b) our sales team, and (c) our market-leading category managers and sourcing leadership. Importantly, the successful individual will also be a strong writer, good cost analyst, and capable presenter who can articulate their solutions and services to our clients and teams.


* Creating winning, bespoke proposals that leverage the best of CBRE's supply chain and category management practice

o Review client RFPs including spend, scope, and SLA information

o Work to understand client objectives and CBRE differentiators within the competitive environment

o Bring forth the most applicable and compelling aspects of GWS SCM programs

o Collaborate to develop a comprehensive supply chain strategy for the client, including sourced categories, category strategies, savings commitments, service improvement ideas, and transition/implementation plan

o Vet plans and proposals with operational, sales, transition, and commercial leaders

o Work within CBRE proprietary pricing processes and tools

o Communicate the supply chain solution in a compelling manner via written proposal materials, Q&A responses, and presentations

* Developing achievable yet competitive financial and service commitments, and a workable plan to meet them

o As GWS moves through the sales process, incorporate additional information to refine plans

o Work with strategic suppliers and vendor partners to solidify their cost and quality commitments

o Support GWS negotiating team in contract scope reviews, KPI finalization, and commercial negotiations

o Refine and improve the transition plan

o Work to pre-identify required resources; mitigate transition risk

* Smoothly transitioning client accounts into a new supply chain, positioning the go-forward operations team for success

o Own inputs of critical steps, timing, and resource requirements into the overall account transition plan

o Participate fully in the transition governance and START process

o Own critical aspects of the 90-180 day transition:

* Supplier on-boarding

* New supply chain set-up and implementation

* Recruiting and hiring account-dedicated sourcing team

* Critical RFPs and decision-making

* Implementation of contract administration technology

* Year 1 Savings Road Map for sourced spend areas

* Day One stabilization and risk mitigation

o Manage platform and variable (consultant) staff brought in to support peak transition workload

o Hand-off to the dedicated team

* Multi-year savings plan

* Identification of risks and opportunities

* Training (as needed)

* Ongoing involvement (as needed) for account success

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field from four-year College and/or University. Minimum of 5-10 years of related experience and/or training. Minimum five years experience in procurement of facility management services and supplies.


C.P.M., C.P.S.M. or N.A.C.M. certifications or eligibility preferred.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.


Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.


Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of database reporting and platform manipulation. Familiarity with use of contracts management tools and platforms.


Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
