Job Description

Job Summary

The Machinist, Maintenance will operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. The individual produces replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of aircraft or other mechanical equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Interpreting written instructions and specifications
  • Planning and laying out of work
  • Using a variety of machinist's hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and heat-treating metal parts to achieve required qualities.
  • Setting up and operating standard machine tools
  • Shaping of metal parts to close tolerances
  • Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining
  • Fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment requires a rounded training in machine-shop practice, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work.
  • Proficient with autocad software for CNC programing.

Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in manual and CNC machining.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
