Job Summary

The Mechanic - Interpreter will be able to perform vehicle repairs as required on equipment noted below.

  • Interpretation of language between MAT and Kurdish/Peshmerga personnel (English to Kurdish - Kurdish to English), as well as translation of written items such as Initial and Final PMCS checklist, Battle Damage Assessment paperwork and Technical Manual translation (English to Kurdish and Kurdish to English).
  • Provides direct translation between Expats and Kurdish/Peshmerga personnel in support of CLS, OJT, and CTS at their assigned M4 work section.
  • Has a critical role in the translation of all required paperwork in support of contract execution as outlined.


The Mechanic - Interpreter maintains customer satisfaction and maximum service by providing customers with technical assistance in their native language.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide field support to military customers within the region.
  • Diagnose, repair, and service the following pending assignment:
  • M1151 and M1152 and M1097 HMMWVs
  • M1230, M234 Caiman, ILAV, RG31 / MRAP, M1078 LMTV, M1083, M1084, M1249 MTV, M1089 LMTV Wrecker and M1249 LMTV Wrecker.
  • M119A2 Towed Howitzer
  • Graders, Bulldozers and Bucket Loaders
  • Forklifts and Cranes
  • Small arms (M16, M2-50 Cal Machinegun, M240 Machinegun, M249 SAW, MK19-40mm)
  • Ensure safe operations and management of hazardous materials
  • Coordinate with customers and fellow employees to get service and parts expedited to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Anticipate and manage customer needs and develop recommended parts stocking requirements for upcoming field or maintenance operations to ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Recommend and provide instruction to operators and maintainers on the correct operations and maintenance procedures for the above listed vehicles.
  • Manage defense, domestic and international field service efforts.
  • Accident reporting.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Advanced understanding of common truck repair procedures
  • Will have advanced knowledge of the product being supplied to the customer and an understanding of the technical and serviceable aspects of the vehicle, and be able to translate into the customer's language.

Experience & Education
  • Associates Degree in vehicle service repair or equivalent
  • 5+ years mechanical experience with military vehicles. 10 Years preferred.
  • Must be certified at a Journeyman level, with 3 years's experience. Experience and Education in the following equipment:
  • M1151, M1152 and M1097 HMMWVs
  • M1230, M234 Caiman, ILAV, RG31 / MRAP, M1078 LMTV, M1083, M1084, M1249 MTV, M1089 LMTV Wrecker and M1249 LMTV Wrecker.
  • M119A2 Towed Howitzer
  • Graders, Bulldozers and Bucket Loaders
  • Forklifts and Cranes

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Will be working on a local national military base.
  • Conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions

Travel
  • Travel requirements vary by assignment. May involve travel domestically and internationally
