What is the position where you can add value?

We are hiring for a 1st shift Strategic Commodity Purchasing Manager for our Tri-Seal Division within Tekni-Plex. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for implementing material sourcing strategies as they align to the overall company annual business plan, goals and objectives. The purpose of the position is to ensure the right suppliers have been selected, approved, and perform to provide materials that meet both internal and customer-based product specifications, quantity, quality, lowest possible total cost and are delivered as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform RFI, RFP and RFQ events based on assigned material categories, status of contractual agreements or as requested by internal customers and defined by policies and Procedures.
  • Provide strategic supplier analysis and recommend sourcing strategy resulting from completed bid process.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to fully achieve cost objectives and obtain the best in class terms and conditions on supply agreements that favor the procurement of all materials.
  • Based on material category and supplier competitive pricing, provide the business with appropriate supplier material allocation schedules.
  • Input annual standard pricing and make changes to purchase prices as required in internal financial systems.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of changing commodity-related business trends in the marketplace and prepares reports on the possible short- and long-term impact to the business.
  • Perform cost analysis on supplier items based on assigned categories to identify opportunities for cost reductions.
  • Participate on or lead cross functional teams that identify and act on cost reduction opportunities or improve operational efficiencies within the business.
  • As leader, develop project plans with action steps and staff assignments, managing status meetings and project to completion.
  • Document performance to action plans and timelines for assigned sourcing projects.

Coordinate new parts and process qualification with internal business organization and supplier technical/quality teams.

  • Input purchase orders as required to support current business conditions.
  • Other tasks or activities as determined and required by the company.
  • Indirect and Raw Material Scope,
  • Seek process improvements including defining Supplier Directory, Supply Base Management, Cost Management, Supply Base Scorecard
  • Oversee duties of Inventory Buyer

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Essential Requirements:

  • Some overnight travel to domestic or international locations by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed
  • Able to work extended or flexible hours as required
  • Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies

 

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • 4-year college degree (Business related, Engineering) from an accredited university.
  • Basic Project Management Experience.
  • Flexible packaging industry experience a plus.
  • Nationally recognized professional certification such as CPPM, CPM, CPSM, CPIM or CSCP is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and supply partners.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of productivity applications - with specific skills in Excel and Word.
  • Professional experience in procurement processes (or related) and contracting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting and financial principals
