As a Senior International Regulatory and Policy Analyst, you are responsible for researching and analyzing the policy and regulatory landscape. You have an analytical mindset as well as a deep interest in how the political and legislative environment impacts business growth at Viasat. This position requires creativity and drive, an ability to find meaning and association that others can't, and deep knowledge of research methods. Core to this position is the ability not just to conduct the research, but to extract the information that helps Viasat make the best business decisions -- transforming data and research into specific insights and recommendations, and persuasively representing that work to internal clients, are keys to success in this role. Job Responsibilities
  • Analyzes global communications business environment and regulatory policy from across the diplomatic, economic, finance, and legal realms to better inform business plans and operations
  • Develops research projects in areas of international business relations, communications policy, and governance globally
  • Responds to internal research requests in a timely manner, utilizing holistic and analytical approaches that identify gaps in understanding of global policy drivers and highlights opportunities where business goals and strategies align with global development interests
  • Analyzes and organizes results of data acquisition, research reports, and field work. Develops mechanisms to collect and organize data and research reports for analysis and final dissemination
  • Identifies new competitors, partners, and influencers in the areas of global communications and cybersecurity
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive network of scholars, government representatives, and private sector personnel for business development opportunities
  • Knowledge of high tech industry structure, key competitors, and overall competitive dynamics related to major telecom service providers
  • Heavy emphasis on persuasive written and verbal communication

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Economics, History, International Affairs, Intelligence, International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Psychology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with international relations, international security, or national policy research and writing
  • 5+ years of experience with conducting open source research, academic research, all-source intelligence, or targeting
  • Knowledge of political and business leadership through academic, professional, or personal expertise
  • Knowledge of Internet-based research, including Boolean logic, search engine and database resources, and Internet sources, such as social media, social networking tools, data exploitation, and commercial- and industry-based databases
  • Up to 25% Travel
